I believe in the power of optimism and self-improvement, continuously striving for excellence both in my personal and professional life. As a first-generation college student and student government senator at Ohio State University, I recognize that growth is driven not just by achievements but by learning from both successes and setbacks. With each experience, I become more aware of the importance of adaptability, persistence, and vision in creating a meaningful path forward. My journey is fueled by passion—passion for advocacy, leadership, and creativity. I find purpose in projects that align with my values and goals, whether that’s through my work as a senator representing over 30,000 commuter and off-campus students or through my creative endeavors with my platforms, JAVforchange and JAVmedias. These spaces allow me to merge my interests in politics, education, and photography, empowering me to engage with my community, share knowledge, and inspire others to take action. Whether through advocacy on campus or by sharing visual stories on social media, I aim to create a positive impact and cultivate a sense of belonging. One of my guiding principles comes from José Ortega y Gasset, who said, “To live is to deal with the world, aim at it, act in it, be occupied with it” (Meditations on Quixote, 1914). For me, this quote encapsulates my approach to life: actively engaging with the world, taking action, and creating meaning in all that I do. Whether I’m working on a policy issue, capturing a powerful image, or advocating for marginalized groups, I strive to engage with purpose and contribute to a world that is more inclusive, educated, and empowered.
